Mock Trial/ Future Lawyers is an activity that meets once a week starting in October that looks at cases and how to put together a prosecution and a defense. We examine the major issues of different types of court cases and how to proceed. We study how to address the court (opening statements), what the key questions of the individual witnesses would be and then how to cross-examine that person's testimony. We look at the defense side, their possible questions and their point of view. We then examine closing statements and their purpose. We also look at the legal profession and related professions and the types of issues that need proponents and advocates. We also bring in area lawyers to hear our arguments on what we believe to be the important issues in a case. |
