As the school social worker, I have a variety of functions within the school. I am available to all students. Typically, my responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provides individual and/or group counseling for special education students (through their IEP), and for regular education students (as needed based on the referrals made by school personnel, parents, self-referred, and/or 504 plan)

Counseling students with issues of anxiety, depression, anger, social skills, peer relationships, and with significant family issues (i.e. divorce, substance abuse, anger management)

Connects students and families with community agencies (ie shelters, mental health agencies, legal system, etc)
