COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is open to students in grades 9-12. Students will explore the fields of Drafting, Computer Aided Design, Engineering, and Architecture. Students will use the media of Sketching, Drawing Board work and AutoCAD software to apply the concepts of Mechanical Drawing and Architectural Design.
The primary focus of Drafting 1 is 2D Drawing and Design. Students will learn to think in 3D as they read and create 2D Orthographic and Pictorial drawings that communicate 3D information. By becoming fluent in transferring information between multiple 2D views, they will gain a strong understanding of the 3D geometry that these drawings represent.
The course will culminate with an individual Dream House Design to include: sketches, floor plans, and roof plans.
