Content Support 10

Mrs. Tavernier

Welcome to Content Support!

The purposes of content support class are as follows:

  • to provide a supportive setting for academic practice

  • to monitor student progress in regular education courses

  • to support each student in organizing and managing school assignments

  • to ensure student understanding of assignment requirements

  • to review and reinforce concepts in regular education courses

  • to assist students in setting goals for academic success

Content support students are expected to participate in College and Career Readiness instruction for a portion of the block each day. This will include instruction in a range of student skills such as organization, study habits, study and memorization skills, test-taking strategies, note taking, and listening skills.  Assignments will include written and oral presentations as well as exploratory projects designed to help students reflect upon and establish personal, career and post-secondary education goals. These projects can also be uploaded to students’ NESTs if they choose to do so.

Students will be provided a weekly assignment planning sheet and expected to fill it in at the start of the resource portion of the block.

On Fridays, I will hold individual conferences with each student to review progress and grades in your other classes. At this time, we will fill out the Content Support Performance Rubric which will contribute to your score on the THS Behavioral Expectation Matrix. The Content Support Performance Rubric allows opportunity for self-reflection, teacher feedback and assessment.
