Course Overview:
The topics and concepts that will be covered in Freshmen Integrated Science are Impacts of Earth's Natural Resources, Global Climate Change, Earth's Interactions and Planetary Motion. In addition, laboratory skills and the design and implementation of labs and engineering design are emphasized. Lab reports, engineering design reports and research based projects are all assignments that can be used in a student's "Nest" portfolio.
Grading:
Quarterly grades will be calculated as follows:
· Individual assignments grades are calculated on a points system rather than a percentage system.
· Projects, classwork, assessments and lab reports will be assigned a point value depending on the complexity of the assignment.
· There is a final exam. There is a lab portion to the final exam that includes a formal lab report.
Expectations:
- All students are expected to be in their seats and ready when the bell rings.
- Students are responsible for the completion of all assigned work.
- Students are responsible for all work missed due to an absence. As stated in the handbook, “ you will have two times the number of days you are absent to make up your work equivalent to the time you were absent.”
- Students are expected to follow all laboratory safety rules.
- All students are required to have a notebook for class. A 3 ring binder is best.
- Students value and demonstrate personal responsibility, character, cultural understanding and ethical behavior.
- Students are expected to be courteous and respectful of others. Student behaviors that stop the teacher from teaching or another student from learning are not acceptable.
