Whether you are a returning or a new family to THS, I am certain that this year will be filled with fresh experiences and new learning.  I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself personally and professionally.

I was born in Queens, New York, but completed most of my schooling in Manchester, CT.  I received my B.S. in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State University and my M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Connecticut.  I taught two years at Newington Children’s Hospital School before going to Manchester Public Schools.  After my second daughter was born in 2002, I decided to stay home with my two young daughters.  While I would not trade those years in for the world, I knew I wanted to return to the classroom.  I began teaching Special Education here at Tolland High School in the fall of 2004.  In August, 2006 I accepted the position of Special Education Department Chair.  I am also a Co-Advisor for the Class of 2019.

I have always had a great love for reading and writing.  During my summer vacations, I spend much time reading novels and scrapbooking/journaling our family photos and memories.  My nose is not always in a book/photo album, however.  My favorite pastime is spending time with my family.  My husband and I have three children, which keep us very busy.  My oldest, Leah, is very involved with Dance.  My middle one, Lauren, is busy with Soccer and Track.  My youngest, Owen, is also busy with Soccer and Baseball.  And, Reggie our yellow lab, is busy digging and playing fetch!

Parents are the most important people in a child’s life, and we need to work together for the benefit of your child.  I need you to support the academic, homework and discipline efforts here at school.  In return, I will help keep you informed about all aspects of your child’s experiences at school.  With school and home working together, I know that each and every student can have his or her most successful year yet.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.  The school office number is 870-6818.  I am extension #410.  My e-mail is  I look forward to working with both you and your child!
