It was a winter wonderland for our Jamboree but we played regardless, because...WE ARE LACROSSE! The Eagles did a fine job progressing throughout the day. They faced the formidable Bobcats of South Windsor and dropped the opener 6-0. SW has always had a quality team which is why they move up the the higher CCC bracket. That makes us a good candidate for the lower CCC division title if we put our work in. We faced fellow CCC foe Rockville Rams and tied 6-6. It was a see-saw game where Tolland had spurts of control followed by turnovers that resulted in goals. We were able to get good momentum to lead to goals. The final bout was with the Ellington Purple Knights. They had #45 and #55 on Attack to rely on but our defense thwarted most of their efforts and the Eagles came away with a 3-2 victory. The day saw great grounball work by Patrick "Big Mac" McManaman, Sean Gannon, Hayden "Loogie" Lughinbuhl, and Mike Criniti. Sam Mayer made confident saves in net and ended up clearing the ball very consistently. We had goals from Sean Walker, Geoff Desmarais, Cody Daigle, and Matt Susca. Tolland opens it's season up against Somers at home on Apr. 7 for an 11:00 start. Hope to pack the stands. "One bout doesn't make a champion. The varsity had a sound trip up to Mass. yesterday. We are seeing strong components and recognizing areas to improve on as the regular season looms in. Cody Daigle and Jarrin Jones had our goals in the 6-2 loss to the prep school. C-Dog had many opportunities coming from behind the cage but the Titans keeper was pretty strong on the crease. JJ had an earlier scoring chance that went into the goalies stick but he capitalized on his 2nd shot. Patrick McManaman, Sean Gannon, and Larry Middleton each displayed solid GB technique and transition moving the ball to the offensive half of the field. Steven Koss did his best "Jimmy Harrison" impression and handled it well. Sam Mayer and Dillon Perras each shared netminding duties and had equal amount of saves while both each only allowed 3 GA- especially when 4 of the goals were from EMO chances. The Eagles had many EMO chances in the 1st half but we need to work on seizing the moments.
