Civics – Syllabus
Civics is the study of the rights and duties of American citizenship. In America, citizen participation has been an essential quality in maintaining our system of government since the founding of our country more than 200 years ago. In this course you will have the opportunity to investigate and explore the following units:
Unit I – Foundations of Citizenship
Unit II – American Revolution
Unit III – United States Constitution
Unit IV – Structure of Government
Unit V – State & Local Government
Unit VI – Political Parties & Voting
Unit VII – Current World & US Events
Grading Policy
Grades in this class will be comprised from total points with both formative and summative assessments. The Tolland High School Writing, Reading, and Behavior rubrics will also be included in each quarter.
Late Policy: Assignments can be turned in late with a 1 point penalty reduction per day.
